Walker Lumber is a California-based roof truss manufacturer serving builders, contractors, and developers across the western U.S. We specialize in custom-engineered wood truss systems, efficient digital workflows, and precision manufacturing.We are expanding our design team and seeking a Remote Truss Designer who can also assist with office management and project coordination. This role blends hands-on technical design with organizational leadership — perfect for a detail-oriented, self-motivated professional who enjoys working independently.
What You’ll Do
- Design and engineer roof and floor trusses using Eagle / TrueBuild (preferred) or other truss software (MiTek, Alpine, Simpson).
- Review architectural and structural plans to produce accurate layouts and production-ready truss drawings.
- Verify structural compliance (ANSI/TPI-1, IBC, local codes).
- Coordinate directly with sales, engineering, and production teams.
- Prepare and manage submittals, permit packages, and revisions.
- Track project schedules and communicate updates with clients and internal staff.
- Maintain organized digital records and assist with office workflows (scheduling, reporting, and client communications).
What We’re Looking For
Required :
- 3+ years of roof/floor truss design experience.
- Proficiency with Eagle / TrueBuild, or experience in MiTek / Alpine with the ability to adapt quickly.
- Strong technical knowledge of structural loads, building codes, and wood framing systems.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines remotely.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred :
- Prior experience in office or project coordination.
- Comfort with spreadsheets, project tracking software, and document control.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on quality and client satisfaction.
